Roll of Honour 1914 - January 1915.

Since the outbreak of war over 126 of former pupils of Balmoral Industrial School have joined the Army, principally the Ulster Division, and some already hold the rank of sergeant, corporal and lance-corporal.

Over 150 are already on active service, and already 9 have been killed, 19 wounded, and 3 are missing. Out of 295 boys who left the school during the years 1911, 1912, 1913, and 1914, 98 are either at the front or in training in various camps.  The roll of honour appears in the school magazine for January, headed by the list of killed as follows:—Navy-Samuel Chancellor, H.M.S. Cressy. Army—Sergeant Robert Adair, Lance-Corporal S. Greenaway, Lance-Corporal R. Jamison, Private R. Gowry, Private D. Mahon, Private R. J. ????????, Private R. Smeaton, and Private Maxwell Smith.
